Pinhey’s Point Historic Site

Nestled on the banks of the Ottawa River approximately 40 minutes west of downtown, Pinhey’s Point features a nearly 200-year-old manor house and surrounding ruins and is an Ontario Heritage Trust site.  Scenic views, historic buildings, stone ruins and rolling green hills come together to create one of the most spectacular places in Ottawa to relax, learn, and explore. The site is a popular destination for boaters and cyclists. 

Greenspace

Situated on 88 acres of farmers' fields, shoreline, and parkland, Pinhey's Point is an ideal outing for anyone who loves the outdoors. Pack a picnic lunch and plan on spending an afternoon in the sunshine, on the river, soaking up local history. Wooded areas and areas with tall grasses are also great habitats for ticks. Visit Ottawa Public Health online for more information on preventing tick bites. 

Wet Felting: Lantern Workshop with Ann McElroy

Saturday, August 22 from 1 pm to 5 pm
Ages 16 and up
Cost: $80.75 plus tax

Learn the art of felt making in a unique heritage setting at Pinhey's Point Historic Site. Led by Ann from Shepherds' Spring Farm, you will create a thin, translucent cover for a glass lantern filled with fairly lights. Once felted, the cover will glow beautifully from within. This workshop requires no sewing and is beginner friendly. Using loose fluffy wool, silk, and other fibers, participants will create a lantern cover that looks beautiful both with and without the lights on. All materials are included in the cost of registration, including the glass lantern and the fairy lights. The project will be completed during the workshop; however, participants will receive instructions to inspire future projects at home. Light refreshments will be served.

Live History – “In Time” performance

Date: Saturday, September 26 and Saturday, October 3
Time: 10 am to 4 pm (recommended final entry by 3 pm)
Fee: $16.75 plus tax
Ages 14 and up
Advance registration is required. 

We’ve teamed up with Live History to offer a unique experience that will transport you back in time to the era of the March Township gentry. Explore one of Ottawa’s most unique historic houses, engage with character actors, follow their clues and put your puzzle-solving skills to the test before the clock runs out. “In Time” offers a heritage-inspired spin on escape rooms, scavenger hunts, and live theatre. “In Time” takes approximately 60 minutes to complete. Start the experience at any time during show hours (10 am to 4 pm); we recommend arriving no later than 3 pm. Bonus! Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful park grounds overlooking the Ottawa River.

Guided Nature Walk with Chad Clifford

Date: Saturday, October 10
Time: 10 am to 12:30 pm
Fee: $26.75 plus tax

Join environmental educator Chad Clifford at Pinhey’s Point as he draws on more than three decades of experience teaching natural history and wilderness skills. Explore the site on a guided walk to learn all about its natural features and history, while picking up some basic wilderness survival skills along the way.

• The guided tour takes approximately 1.5 hours and will follow a relaxed pace. The route includes regular stops and some inclines. Please check the weather and dress according to conditions, including appropriate footwear for grass, gravel and uneven or rocky terrain. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended. All skill levels are welcome; hiking or wilderness experience is not required to participate in this program. Pinhey’s Point Historic Site features a 19^th century manor house and stone ruins, 88 acres of greenspace, and stunning views of the Ottawa River. The grounds immediately surrounding the house are available for use by rental clients.
